Visit Queensland's Highest Elevated Granite Belt Winery
Cool climate, high altitude vineyards over 1000 metres that capture the serenity of the picturesque landscape…
Serrena Que Estate sits at the highest elevation of any winery on the Granite Belt, perched above 1,000 metres in the highlands of Eukey. We're located along the Granite Belt Highland Drive, a scenic route that winds through some of the most dramatic landscapes in Southern Queensland.
Storm King Dam and the towering granite outcrops of Girraween National Park are practically on our doorstep. That wilderness is more than just a backdrop; it's part of what makes Serrena Que Estate extraordinary. The same ancient granite that defines the national park runs beneath our vineyard, giving our wines a mineral character that no winemaking technique can replicate.
The Granite Belt is renowned across Australia for its cool climate viticulture, and our elevated position takes that advantage even further. Cooler nights slow ripening, the harvest stretches longer, and the flavour concentration that builds in the fruit over those extra weeks finds its way into every bottle we produce. This is genuine terroir - wine shaped by altitude, granite, climate, and place.
Boutique Wines with a Difference - Hand Crafted from Vineyard to Glass
Many wineries plant to the familiar, but we've taken a different path entirely. Our Strangebird range is built around rare and emerging grape varieties. Grapes are chosen because they belong here, in this soil, at this altitude, in this climate.
Our Strangebird varietals include Cortese, Garganega, Fiano, Barbera, Mencía, Maturana Tinta, Saperavi, and Tempranillo. You won't find this complete lineup at your average Granite Belt winery, and that's precisely the point. These are ancient varieties from the cool-climate wine regions of Italy and Spain, and they have found a second home in our Eukey vineyard on the Granite Belt highlands.
Alongside the Strangebird range, we craft an elegant sparkling rosé and a medium-bodied Shiraz, wines that reflect the same philosophy as everything we grow here. Careful oak selection where it enhances rather than dominates. Fermentation timed to the fruit. Wines that reward patience and evolve beautifully in the wine cellar.
From the first green shoots on the vine to the moment the bottle is opened, every decision is made with the same care and intention; the same hands, the same vineyard, the same commitment to letting this remarkable piece of the Granite Belt speak through every bottle.

How to Get Here
Serrena Que is an easy drive from Brisbane - roughly two and a half hours through the Queensland highlands. Head towards the Stanthorpe Visitor Information Centre, then turn left onto Eukey Road. This is the start of the Granite Belt Highland Drive route.
If you’re travelling from Tenterfield or South, you’ll turn right onto Eukey Road from the New England Highway in Ballandean.
Make a weekend of it. Walk the trails through Girraween National Park, or take in Storm King Dam at dusk. We highly recommend you explore the Granite Belt Highland Drive from Stanthorpe to Ballendean (it’s so much better than the highway), and pair it all with wine tasting at the top.
